Introduction: the main issue of the paper is understanding and definition of the concept of “forensic support of investigation of crimes as a method of criminalistics”. The goal of the research is the analysis of various ways of understanding of forensic support of investigation and using knowledge of general theory of criminalistics and presentation of the definition of forensic support of investigation of crimes of the author. Materials and Methods: research methodology is a systematic approach using the theoretical research methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, logic, observation and generalization, etc.), allowing to consider the provision of forensic crime investigations as a method of criminology. Results: the author gave the definition of criminal maintenance of investigation of crimes, which is a special method of criminology that implements its function, representing a dynamic system submitted to the bodies of preliminary investigation and inquiry developed, scientifically based, proven in practice, complex forensic science, technical and forensic equipment, tactical and criminalistic techniques and methods for its implementation, required for efficient production of the investigation. Discussion and Conclusions: the proposed definition of criminal maintenance of investigation of crimes can serve as a basis for further research aimed at its improvement and the development of a science of practical recommendations that can contribute to the effective investigation of crimes.
